I was typing on a different screen and all but about 10 of the many many cards on my board disappeared. How can I get them back. I hit Ctrl Z and nothing happened. I have no more tricks

It could be of great chance that someone has archived the whole list. Did you check on the archive items?

If you can't find them there, then probably somebody deleted them and you can't restore them. Hope that you find them on the archived items.
