2 first no widgets? second why would someone want to make a board public??

See this page for widgets available for Android app.   If there''s something you want that is not available, you can submit a feature request to the dev team.

A board might be made public for a variety of reasons, but most of the time it's when a user doesn't want to add people to a board to make changes, but they still want the board to be visible by anyone.  Public boards don't usually have sensitive information on them,.
