Hi!

I have three columns: "To Do," "In Progress," and "Done." I have a question: when I complete a card—whether it’s currently in "To Do" or "In Progress"—can it be moved to "Done," and if it’s a recurring task, can it reappear in the "To Do" tab the next day?

I tried to create an automation based on this logic, but I couldn't get it set up.

Hi @Henrique Mehl ,

Welcome to the Community!  You can set automation to  mark cards as complete, and to set triggers, as described here:

https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/mark-a-card-as-complete/

https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/create-and-manage-automations

And I haven't tried this yet, but I believe you could use the Cad Repeater power-up to set a recurrent task on a schedule (although this creates new cards rather than moving the original one, and it doesn't support conditional logic):

https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/using-the-card-repeater-power-up/

You can also try Zapier to set up this automation: https://zapier.com/apps/trello/integrations

Hi @Henrique Mehl , :)
Hope you are doing well,
Welcome to the community!!

You can absolutely set this up using two Trello automations. Here's how to get it working:

Automation 1: Rule automation (move cards to Done when marked complete)

Set up a rule trigger so that when a card's due date is marked as complete (or a checklist is completed), the card automatically moves to your "Done" list.

Automation 2: Scheduled automation (reset recurring cards from Done back to To Do)

For the recurring cards specifically, here's the approach:

  1. Add a label (for example, "Recurring") to each card you want to reset on a schedule.

  2. Head to Automation > Scheduled, and create a new scheduled automation.

  3. Set your preferred interval (daily, weekly, etc.).

  4. Add the action: move all cards with the "Recurring" label from the "Done" list back to the "To Do" list.

This way, only the cards tagged with your "Recurring" label get moved back, leaving any other completed cards in "Done" untouched.

Hope this helps
Thanks.
