@jenn and everyone, ability to pin board switcher on the left is now available to all Trello users.
While this doesn't respond to all of the feedback shared in this thread, I hope this will be a welcome change, helping to retain familiar workflows with Trello.
> The initial response to the feedback was to go to another of their products. I hesitate to move to another product, for fear we will be in the same spot, in another 5 years
Unfortunately, no one will be able to tell what is going to happen in 5 years, but with a highest probability Jira will remain a recommended Atlassian product for collaborative project management, while Trello will continue to evolve as personal productivity app during this time.
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m shifting my attention to the modding community. Handle it however you see fit your approach to this has been genuinely disappointing.
A great product doesn’t need to be split into several just to maximize profits. Turning a single, functional solution into a money grab pushing users toward unnecessary alternatives is a class of its own. The goal of a business should be to build and improve, not to wreck what works and only release a fix after the community has already solved the issue.
@victor - i'm looking at where we've been told to find the ability to pin the board switcher to the left, and i'm not seeing it. When exactly will all users be able to see this?
The only reason i've come to this forum is to try and find out why my team are all finding the new layout confusing and how to get it back to the way it worked for us. I'm hoping that this gets fixed, as it wasn't broken before.
@Andrew Morrison the board switcher they rolled out doesn't follow the "same flow" as shown in the original post here. There's a navigation bar/dock towards the bottom of the screen with a button that says "Switch Boards"
Clicking this once pins it to the side and brings up the old view.
If it hasn't been updated on your end, i'd say try clearing your web browser's cache as you might have an old state saved
I'm glad we now have the option to show the boards on the left, but now the floating navigation bar takes up even more space than it did before. It's quite annoying having it sitting at the bottom of the screen. Why can't those options just be up on the taskbar where they would be out of the way?
Please make the navigation bar at the bottom optional. Show/hide the bar. I just need the boards and the list on the left side. If I don’t need to use inbox or planner why do I need the bar at that place?
Two days ago my beta preview ended and I finally lost my ability to go back to the old layout. So now I've been force fed the crippled 'new and improved' UI and I hate it, like almost everyone else here. I've been hoping for of a sensible reaction to all the posts that explain in great detail all that is wrong with this UI. So eight weeks later the only thing you generously gave us back is the board switcher, albeit with an extra click to pin and unpin it because the main goal of this update seems to make us go through extra clicks. But unlike advertising companies you don't get money from these extra clicks, you only draw ire from longtime users. And you chase away potential new users or users that - like me - have contemplated changing to the paid version. Which I think would be an incredible stupid thing to do unless there is a possibility to revert to the old, slick, functional card design you destroyed for no discernible reason. Shooting yourself in the foot is one thing, but applying a dirty band aid afterwards and pretending everything is fine now definitely isn't going to help much.
