"Custom domain subdomain has already been taken" error

I am seeing the error message "Custom domain subdomain has already been taken" when I try to add a custom domain at `status.<my_domain>`, but am able to add `statuspage.<my_domain>`, even though I have no DNS entries for `status.`

If you are following these steps (https://support.atlassian.com/statuspage/docs/set-a-custom-domain-and-ssl/) and getting that error when you add the custom domain into the custom domain field you will need Atlassian to take a look at this for you.  Have you submitted a support issue to Atlassian support yet? https://support.atlassian.com/contact/
