How to track all your Confluence tasks in one place

Question of the week

Q: How can I keep track of all my Confluence tasks in one place?

A: This one is a little personal. After a few months of hosting customer office hours, @Peggy Graham and I needed an easy way to keep track of follow-up items scattered across Confluence pages.

Now, given where we work, it would have been tempting to create a robust Jira project with all kinds of bells and whistles (and we probably will down the road). But we just aren't ready for that yet.

For now, we kept it simple. TL;DR - you can keep track of all your Confluence tasks with the Tasks view under your profile.

When there's a follow-up item for Peggy:

  1. I add a new task with the Confluence macro. Tip: Type '[]' in the page editor in Confluence to quickly add a task.
  2. I tag Peggy and (sometimes) add a date. Tip: Type '//' to pull up the Confluence date picker.
  3. I write out the actual task.

Then all Peggy has to do is check her Tasks view to see them all in one place:

Tip: You can also filter your Tasks by Due dateConfluence space, and more.
