I'm attempting to download the app from this link https://www.sourcetreeapp.com/

The download button redirects me here
https://product-downloads.atlassian.com/software/sourcetree/ga/Sourcetree_4.2.17_311.zip

It returns a 403 Forbidden error, is there a problem with thee server or a typo on the download link?

Hi @arturo_guerra_barragan

Thank you for reaching out and apologies for the delay in getting back to you on this.

When you initially reported this issue on the 10th of March, @Tomislav Tobijas reported that he was able to replicate the 403 error that yo are facing. Today when I attempted to replicate it myself, I did not encounter any errors. For reference, I managed to download the installer for the Windows and the Mac version.

Please let me know if this issue is still actual and whether further help is required.

Regards,
Samuil

@Samuil Enchev, thanks for getting back on this. I just want to add that all downloads were unavailable at that point - Jira DC, Confluence DC, etc. (incl. Sourcetree installer).

So it was definitely a storage/server issue, wherever you guys are storing these installer files.

Here's one related reported issue from that day https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Jira-questions/Jira-Datacenter-download-URL-are-not-working-anymore-403-errors/qaq-p/3204446

Anyway, all files seem to be okay/available at the moment.

Hah, it seems all download links are broken. 🫠 I've tried a couple (on random), and every single one throws a 403 error.

Could be a server/storage issue 👀

I'll ask someone from Atlassian to take a look at this.

Thanks for checking.

If multiple random download links are all returning 403, it does sound more like a problem on Atlassian’s download side than an isolated bad link.

I appreciate you flagging it internally. I’ll wait for an update from Atlassian.

Or a slightly more casual version:

Thanks for testing that. If several download links are all returning 403, then it definitely looks like a server or storage-side issue rather than a typo in the URL.

Appreciate you escalating it to Atlassian. I’ll keep an eye out for an update.

The link itself does not look like a typo.

The official Sourcetree download page currently points its download buttons to product-downloads.atlassian.com, so that domain is expected.

A 403 Forbidden response usually means the request is being denied by the download server or by something in between, such as a proxy, firewall, VPN, or regional/network filter, rather than the filename being malformed. Since the official page is still generating that exact download URL, this looks more like an access or server-side issue than a typo in the link.

I would suggest checking from another browser or network, and trying without a VPN or proxy if one is in use. If the same 403 happens consistently across networks, Atlassian may need to review the download host.
