creating prompt to create a Jira task

Pragnya Prasu Sahoo September 5, 2025

I have created an Rovo agent pointing to a Jira board with all available actions for Jira is selected. Now I want to create a task with all different details. I had created the below prompt.

" Create a Jira task with the following details:
Title: Blue POC
Description: Blueprint POC
Story Points: 5
Assigned To: Pragnya Sahoo
Sprint: Test_2025_Q3_Sprint_5
Labels: gat_test_board "

But what it is happening is that, it is just creating task with Title and description only and rest all field values are not populating.

What should I need to do to create the task with all those details getting populated ?

Hi @Pragnya Prasu Sahoo ,

I tested Rovo Chat with this prompt, and it mostly worked:

Prompt used:

Create a new Jira Task in project XYZ with the following details:

  • Summary: Rovo Chat Action: create a Jira task
  • Issue Type: Task
  • Description: Blueprint POC
  • Story Points: 5
  • Assignee: Jane Doe
  • Reporter: Jane Doe
  • Sprint: Test2025Q3Sprint5
  • Labels: gattestboard

The task was created successfully, but the Labels, Sprint, and Story Points were not added.

What happens next:

  • Rovo will try to create the issue with all the fields you provide.
  • If a field (like Sprint or Story Points) isn’t available for the Task issue type in your Jira setup, Rovo will ask you to adjust.
  • Once the task is created, you’ll get a confirmation with the Jira issue key and a link.

Tips to make it work smoothly:

  • Make sure you have permission to assign issues and set sprints in project XYZ.
  • If Rovo asks for clarification, just reply with the missing or corrected value.
  • If the sprint “Test2025Q3Sprint5” doesn’t exist or isn’t active, Rovo will likely ask you to choose another sprint or skip that field.

For me too is the same issue that "The task was created successfully, but the Labels, Sprint, and Story Points were not added".

And as you told that we can do the adjustment by clicking on "Edit Details" icon that appears before creating task.

So, the feature of creating a task with whatever details possible (like Labels, Sprint, and Story Points) with a single prompt isn't available yet.

So, wanted to know if this feature will be available in the future where it will make it easier for anyone to create a ticket with simple sentence with all fields required ?
