Hi everyone!
Atlassian team Barcelona is around the corner and new rovo quests show up : )
How do you handle external emails within Jira?
How can rovo find those messages?
The official Atlassian Outlook Jira Connector can post emails to to a jira issue, but those messages will not be indexed -> so rovo will not see them
There is a new feature request:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-96266
How do you bring your email content including attachments to the rovo knowledge base?
currently, Rovo doesn't index & search Jira attachments, but there is a feature request for it: [ROVO-186] Add ability for Rovo to search content from Jira attachments - Create and track feature requests for Atlassian products.
I added this to your feature request as a comment as well, as they are no related. As Jira search is being replaced by Rovo search, solving one will solve the other.
I personally don't really work with emails in Jira but if I do, it's not via attachments. We use the "Email this Issue" App that can transform emails to descriptions, comments etc.
Email This Issue can also attach the original emails (hence the complete email correspondence) to the issue as eml file attachments. Hence, they are available for Rovo right away.

@Tibor Hegyi _META-INF_ but according to the original question and the feature request, Rovo does not index eml attachments yet?!

@Patrick S_ Stuckenberger Rovo can’t index emails added through the Outlook Jira Connector yet, even though they show up in the issue. Atlassian confirmed this and is tracking it under JRACLOUD-96266. For now, teams copy key email text into a field Rovo can read, link a Confluence page with the email content, or upload the email as a PDF/EML so it gets indexed. Once the feature ships, Rovo will see these emails directly.
