Single team, two schedules, no overlap?

Hi folks,

We've got the following set-up:

  • A single team of people.
  • Two schedules, a primary and secondary both on-call at the same time.
  • The person on primary gets alerts first, then if not ack'ed, they go to the secondary (a cascading escalation policy).

It seems that OpsGenie cannot automatically assign people into the two schedules from the single team, such that a single person is not on-call in both the primary and secondary at the same time?

Does OpsGenie support any kind of scheduling management with schedule conflict detection like this?

Is there a way to achieve the above set-up with the requirement of no overlap for an on-call person, in another way?

Cheers!

Hi Joshua,

If you start both rotations on each schedule on the same day and time and they use the same rotation type (daily, weekly), you would have no overlap as long as you started each rotation with a different user.

The other option is to use time intervals to restrict the times for each rotation. Here, you would need to create opposite time intervals on each schedule.
