When alerts get created through the Prometheus intgration on Jira Service Management, we automatically get [Prometheus]: attached to the alert.
In OpsGenie it was apparently possible to remove this prefix, is it also possible with Jira Service Management? Thanks!
Hi Matti,
This is Mona and I'm here to help :)
Great question, customizing alert notifications for clarity is a common need!
By default, when you integrate Prometheus with Jira Service Management (JSM), alerts created through this integration include the [Prometheus]: prefix in the alert summary. This helps quickly identify the alert source, but I understand you may want to remove or modify it for your workflows.
The good news:
In JSM (Premium and Enterprise plans), you can actually remove or edit this prefix directly within the integration settings. Here’s how:
Go to JSM Operations → Integrations → Prometheus Integration.
Edit the Create Alert processing rule.
Under Alert details, find the Message field.
Remove the [Prometheus]: prefix from the message template.
Save your changes and try creating a test alert.
After making this change, new alerts should no longer include the [Prometheus]: prefix in their summaries. For a visual walkthrough, here’s a quick screen recording:

Note:
These customization options are available on JSM Premium and Enterprise plans. You can find more details in the official documentation:

As per the documentation here Integrate with Prometheus | Jira Service Management Cloud | Atlassian Support, this configuration would be managed under Prometheus, found this on their documentation : Configuration | Prometheus, have you tried adding the customized Jira API in your alertmanager.yml configuration?
