I am learning to play guitar. I am making recordings of my practice. But Loom does not pick up the sound of my guitar.......only my voice.

Hi @John Galbraith welcome to the Atlassian community.

Here is the probable cause and the steps you can take to fix this, using the official Loom documentation:

  • The issue is likely due to the microphone being set up to pick up your voice (which is close and loud) but not the guitar (which is further away and often quieter than speaking directly into the mic).
  • Loom records audio from the single Microphone input device you have selected. It does not record "system audio" (sounds playing from your computer) unless you specifically enable that feature.

Steps:

Your solution depends on whether you are using the Loom Desktop App or the Loom Chrome Extension.

Official guidance on managing audio sources:

Link: Troubleshooting recording errors

If you follow the steps in the official links to increase the input volume on your computer and adjust your mic placement, you should be able to hear both your voice and your guitar clearly.
