please downgrade one account to free creator Life

Good afternoon,

Could you please downgrade my manager - Laura's account to creator life? we only need one admin account. 

It says Laura's account will be downgrade on 1/9/2027. We would like it to be downgraded now to avoid the extra account charges. 

Please assist. Thank you!

I'm assuming you've already paid for an annual subscription for her account. You'll want to connect with billing support at https://support.atlassian.com/loom/

Creator Lite seats are always free, and an Admin of the workspace has to make this change.

1. Prerequisites

  • You must be a Workspace Admin in Loom.
  • Your workspace must support Creator Lite roles:
    • Available on Starter (free) and Business plans.
    • Not available on Enterprise plans (Enterprise uses “Members” instead of Creator/Creator Lite).

 

2. Steps to downgrade one account to Creator Lite (free)

  1. Log in to Loom
    Go to Free screen recorder for Mac and PC | Loom and sign in with your admin account.
  2. Open Workspace Settings
    • Click your workspace name (usually bottom-left or top-left, depending on UI).
    • Select Workspace Settings.
  3. Go to Members / Users
    • In Workspace Settings, open the Members, Users, or People tab (name can vary slightly).
    • You’ll see a list of all workspace members with their roles: Admin, Creator, Creator Lite, Viewer, Member, etc.
  4. Find the specific user
    • Search for the person whose account you want to downgrade (by name or email).
    • Confirm that their current role is Creator (paid).
  5. Change role to Creator Lite
    • Next to their name, click the role dropdown (e.g., “Creator”).
    • Select Creator Lite.
    • Confirm/save if Loom prompts for confirmation.
  6. Once changed:
    • That user becomes a free Creator Lite.
    • They keep access for the remainder of the billing cycle as a paid Creator, then are effectively only counted as a free Creator Lite going forward (Loom notes that downgraded Creators retain Creator access for the rest of the cycle).
  7. Verify billing impact
    • As Admin, go to Workspace Settings → Plan & Billing.
    • Check:
      • Number of Creators/Admins (billable seats).
      • Number of Creator Lites (should be free seats).
    • The downgraded user should now appear under the free Creator Lite seats.

 

3. If you don’t see “Creator Lite” as an option

You might be in one of these situations:

  • On Enterprise plan
    • Enterprise uses Members/Admins, and Creator Lite roles are not offered.
    • You won’t be able to convert a single Member to a free Creator Lite; that’s a plan limitation.
  • Atlassian-billed Loom (integrated with Atlassian)
    • If your Loom profile says “Your Profile is linked to Atlassian” in Personal Settings, most plan and seat changes are managed via Atlassian billing:
      https://admin.atlassian.com/billing
    • You can still change user roles inside Loom, but total paid seat count ultimately reflects in Atlassian billing.
