Hi, I’m having an issue with audio recording on Loom.

When I record a meeting (Zoom ) on my Mac:

  • My own voice is recorded correctly

  • Other participants’ audio is recorded only when using the Mac’s built-in speakers

  • When I use earphones (EarPods), other participants’ audio is not recorded at all

I have already:

  • Enabled System Audio in Loom

  • Confirmed my microphone is working correctly

However, the issue still persists:

👉 When using earphones, system audio (other participants) is not captured.

Questions:

  1. Does Loom support recording system audio when using earphones on macOS?

  2. Is this expected behavior or a bug?

  3. Is there any recommended way to record meeting audio (including other participants) while using earphones?

Thanks for your help!

Hi @運営事務局 MLC

This could be a audio routing limitation, not a Loom bug.

Possible solutions -

  1. Set your Zoom output to "MacBook Speakers" instead of earphones: In Zoom → Settings → Audio → Speaker → select "MacBook Air/Pro Speakers." You'll hear participants through your Mac speakers, and Loom will capture the system audio. You can still use your earphones as the microphone input if you prefer.
  2. Check macOS System Audio permissions for Loom: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording and make sure Loom is checked.
  3. Enable "Use system audio" in Loom Desktop App: Preferences → Video & Audio → toggle on "Use system audio."
