Loom Use Cases in Teams with Data Privacy Requirements

Hello Atlassian Community!

As Loom becomes part of the Atlassian Teamwork Collection, I'm interested in hearing how organizations with data privacy, security, or governance requirements are leveraging Loom's non-AI capabilities.

Has your team found Loom valuable for day-to-day work, knowledge sharing, training, or collaboration as it replaced or supplemented other video communication tools already in use? What has been the experience with the use of Loom paired with other Atlassian products, namely Confluence and Jira?

I'd especially appreciate perspectives from teams that have evaluated Loom primarily for its core recording and sharing features rather than AI-assisted functionality.

Any insights, lessons learned, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @Ellen Gruebbeling ,

We're not under any regulatory requirements, but I can share that, even before AI-related features, we've used Loom extensively. Especially when it comes to async communication.

To me, it's much easier (and faster) to record a 4-5 min video rather than check my calendar and find a slot for a meeting that can/should actually be a Loom. I've seen really quick adoption of this - even with our clients who might have/had that 'we'll book a meeting' mindset.

Also, I've seen much better engagement with video formats compared to the written one (e.g. Confluence pages). We could maybe even go as far as saying Loom could be business TikTok 😅

In the end, AI features are a really nice addition and can really speed things up. But even without them, Loom is a pretty awesome tool 🥳

Cheers,
Tobi
