Remove one project out of a workflow scheme

oliver.schulz July 21, 2022 edited

Hi, we use one workflow scheme for multiple projects. For only one of those projects I want to make a lot of workflow changes, so I created in a new playground scheme with new flows first.

Now I'm wondering, how can I add my new workflows step by step to this one specific project? (I don't want to overwhelm my team).

My approach would be, copy the existing old workflow scheme, name it 'New Workflow Scheme'. Switch the scheme of this particular project to 'New Workflow Scheme'.

Then replace the single workflows step by step with the playground workflows.

What do you think, is that the way to go?

Hi @oliver.schulz

Yeah this method sounds about right - you will need a separate workflow scheme in order for the projects to use different workflows. You will also need to clone the actual workflow within this scheme which you wish to change, as when you clone a workflow scheme, the same original workflows are still associated with the newly cloned scheme

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You're getting projects and workflows the wrong way around.  You do not remove a project from a workflow, you remove a workflow from a project.

So it's the same answer.  You need to create a new workflow scheme and apply it to the project(s) you want to remove the workflow from.

You need to create a new workflow scheme and apply it to the project(s) you want to remove the workflow from -- This is correct ,

But i already have a Workflow scheme with old workflow which is attached to 3 projects , I want to have new workflow for my project will it work if i create a new workflow scheme only for my project will it change to new workflow ?

Yes, when you apply the new scheme, it will set the new or shared workflow(s) on the issues as defined.
