Is there a way to mention someone in project automation on Jira Server (not cloud)

I want to @<name> on Jira server within project automation.  Not the assignee.  I want it to mention as if doing a @<name>...  within comments.

You can mention people using their usernames [~username] or smart values. Here's the example:

[Steve Maiorano]

Thank you so much - it worked.  My syntax was off.  I needed [~{{assignee}}]
