How to hide unrelevant fields in the bulk modification screen?

Julien Echavidre September 4, 2019

Hi there,

I have multiple fields systems for various usages. But, when I want to edit tickets in bulk, we can see all the fields from all the field systems. As we have a lot of fields in various fields systems, there are a lot of fields visible on this screen.

Is there a solution to avoid this, and then just display the fields available on the current fields system?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Best regards,

Julien

Hi,

The Jira does not have the ability to bulk modifications for screens

However, if you do not need a field on all screens, and it is not required then you can try to hide it in the field configuration globally for the whole Jira. This is a bad decision, and it’s better to change each screen manually, but it may work nonetheless

Hi Yevhen,

Thanks for your answer.

Not sure to get you. Just to be sure: I am talking about the screen which is displayed when you follow those steps:

  1. Go to tickets
  2. Click on "View all issues and filters"
  3. (Make your query)
  4. Click on "Tools" > Bulk Change (all the x issues)
  5. Select all relevant issues > Next
  6. Edit issues > Next
  7. Step 3 - Operation details. This is this screen.

Are you talking about this? So, no way to hide unrelevant fields on this screen?

Thanks again for your help and answer.

Best,

Julien

Yeah, I’m not talking about this place)

You mean the 3rd step of the process of bulk changes. No, you can’t hide irrelevant fields here, the Jira take all the fields and does not check for usability(

Ok, Yevhen.

Thanks for your answer. Too bad, this is really hard to read this screens, as we have dozens of custom fields...

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

Best,

Julien

Just as a theory: try to remove unused fields from the screens, then filter the tasks you need for multiple changes, and after that try to go to the 3rd step, maybe this will reduce the irrelevant of fields at least a little)
