Hi,
I am pretty new to the JIRA and next-gen as well. I would like to know how can I create
1) Create a private project within next-gen
I want to set up a private project with a client A and I want to restrict him to only his project and he should not see the existing projects.
2) Create a private board within next gen
Is it possible to create a private board to the client A in the existing project, therefore, he can only see his board and not other boards or issues?
What would be the best practice in achieving this?
Thank you so much :)
Thank you @Angélica Luz . Appreciate your answer.

Hello @Angélica Luz
Question: I have existing Next Gen project with Open access and now I would like to restrict it to private. How do I make changes?
As per the document I tried below settings to do changes but I was unable to find below settings. We are using Cloud version.
From your project's sidebar, select Project settings > Details.
In the Access drop-down, select the level of access you want.
Select Save details.
Thanks,
Rahul

Hi Rahul,
Just to make sure we are on the same page, I would like to know if you have access to the Project settings. Are you the administrator of this project?
If possible, send us a screenshot of the left sidebar for us to see what options appear for you.

Angélica

Hi @Angélica LuzLuz,
Yes, I am an administrator for the project. Here is the attached screen-shot.
If I click on Project settings> Details. I can't see any access drop-down button.
Thanks for a quick reply.

Rahul

Thank you for the screenshot.
This sidebar is from a classic software project and not next-gen, that's why the option is not available. For classic project, you can control who can access the project on People's page, where you control it by roles.
Also, you can change the Project settings > Permissions.

@Angélica Luz Question - Our Jira cloud instance has some older projects created as classic projects. Is there an option to restrict access to classic projects and set them to limited?
I don't think I saw this. Please let me know if I'm missing something.
Thanks!
Roopa

Hi Roopa,
For classic projects the permissions are different, you must set it on Project settings > Permission where you can select the group, person or role that can find the project and see the tickets (Browse projects).
Note that, as classic projects have shared configuration, the permission scheme that is associated with a project may also be associated with another one, so any changes made can affect more than one project.
If you want to restrict access only to tickets, you can use Issue security.
For more details about permission and issue security, please check the documentation below:
- Managing project permissions
- Configuring issue-level security
