update request type or add request type to JSM with API

Hello everyone, 

I am trying to either add or update a request type (based on requestTypeId) to JSM projects. While we can create or delete  request type in JSM using API, but I can't find any info relate to update or add a request type in JSM using API. I am really appreciate for any information or suggestion (not the web GUI) for update or add the request type. Thank in advance.

Welcome to the community.  Can you provide why you want to maintain/manage Request Types setup via REST APIs instead of using the JSM GUIs? 

REST APIs are used typically to set/update request type against existing issues.  I am not aware of anything that can be utilized to create and manage Request Types via REST APIs.

I would recommend that you may want to suggest for an enhancement to Atlassian Support (https://support.atlassian.com).

Hi Joseph,

We are having more than 50 JSM projects for customers access to report bugs, issues, and other questions. This number is growing and maintaining these sites' request type using GUI are not efficient and prone to human error. We can create request type using API but that endpoint only add default required fields. We need a option to additional fields when create a request type or update it.
