permission to create integrations without being added to a team in JSM

Hi team,

In Opsgenie, it’s possible to create integrations without being added to a team (and thus avoid receiving alerts).
Is there a way to achieve the same in Jira Service Management (JSM)? Specifically:

  • What permission or role is required to create/manage integrations in JSM without being a team member?
  • Is it possible to grant this permission without adding a user to the team and without them receiving alerts?
  • If not, is there a recommended workaround to allow integration management without unnecessary alert notifications?

Hi Vijay,

In Jira Service Management (JSM), permissions to create and manage integrations depend on the integration scope:

Team-level integrations
To create or manage a team-level integration, you must be a Team Admin for that team. This requires being added to the team.
Atlassian documentation confirms that only team admins can add integrations from the team’s Operations settings.

Global (site-level) integrations
To create integrations at the global level, you must have Jira Service Management admin permissions. Team membership is not required in this case.

At this time, there is no supported way to grant permission to manage a team-level integration without adding the user to the team. Unlike Opsgenie, JSM does not provide a separate integration-management role that excludes team membership or alert visibility.
Hope this helps clarify.
