Did you mean:

is it possible to automatically set work item fields from the Affect Service

Robin Jackson September 8, 2025

Good day

I hope you are all well.

I am looking for a solution whereby I can set Work Item attributes based on the selected Service without using Automations.

For Example

  1. Set the Approver Group field from the affect Service Change Approvers
  2. Set the Team on an Incident to be the Service Owner Team from the Affected Service

I do apprecaite any information that you may have

Kind regards,

Robin.

Hi @Robin Jackson

To my knowledge without automation the only avenue I can think of are post functions in your workflow, but I believe you may need some 3rd party app like Scriptrunner or Jira Misc Workflow Extensions to fully accomplish the auto population.

Hi @Robin Jackson

For your 1st question this should be possible, see smart values for Affected Services https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-smart-values-issues/#--issue.affectedServices--

The 2nd can also be done, to set the Team field on an issue in automation you need to use the advanced option in an automation.

This to set theTeam field based on JSON coding and specifying the Team ID.

See https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/automation-update-the-team-field-based-on-the-assignee-field-1540227585.html
