how to mention a new issue created in the comment

Deleted user June 10, 2020

on Jira Service Desk cloud, I'm on an issue and using automation for Jira I create a new issue connected to the current one I'm looking at. How can I quote the summary and the key of the new issue created and insert a comment in the issue that existed before ?

Hello @[deleted]

Thank you for reaching out.

Per your description, I understand you would like to add the summary and key of the new issue created in the automation above to the previous existing issue from where you triggered the automation. Is that correct?

You can use another automation rule to achieve that, you just need to create a link to identify the issue from where it was created. These would be the steps:

  1. Navigate to the automation rule you already have and configure it to link the new issue created to the rule from where you triggered the automation, using a link type that you will not use for any other issues:

  2. Then, create a new automation, copying the fields you want to the linked issue as a comment, using smart values:

  3. Under Rule details, mark the option to allow other rule actions to trigger this rule
