embed a chatbot widget without setting up an open portal

Is it possible to embed the chatbot widget into my web application without making my service portal open?

We don't want our portal to be open and also want our knowledge articles to be accessible only to named users.

Alternatively, are there exposed APIs for the chatbot that we can use to build our own widget and feed it?

Unfortunately, there's no way around it. The JSM widget (that jsd-embedded snippet) requires the portal to have public access to function. This is an architectural limitation of the widget: it runs in the visitor's browser context, without an authenticated Jira session. I also tried using Refined to configure permissions through Refined, and it didn't work either. Atlassian should have an option to customize it, not just open or closed.
