Hi there,
We are looking for way to automate some processes by using JIRA and ticketing via e-mail. My question, is it possible to create a ticket via e-mail but not just a pure text?
So if ticket type normally has some "fields" like Company name, project name, Team lead name etc that e-mail which will come will fill that type of "fields"?
Example if e-mail will come:
#TeamLead Tom Jones
#CompanyName KIA Motors
#ProjectName Automation
So output would be that ticket created via e-mail would had filled answers in the fields instead of descriptions only.
Hope made it clear enough,
Lukasz
You will need to find or write a more advanced "email handler", one that can parse your incoming email for the data you are looking for and add it into the right fields.
You could write something, but I usually reach for the JEMH app, as it's far more configurable and flexible than anything I've got time to do. See https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/4832/enterprise-email-handler-for-jira-jemh
I checked 2 solutions, but none of them allows to update custom fields with anything besides e-mail address.
Support from Email This Issue (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/4977/email-this-issue?hosting=cloud&tab=overview) states that they will release this feature in week or two.
Waiting for it!
