Will updating a workflow be applied to existing tickets already created?

We are looking to setup new workflows for a project and the owner of the project wants to know if we apply the new workflow to the project that will update in the existing tickets as well. Specifically is there is a workflow that doesn't exist in the current config IE Lets say the ticket is currently under status Pending and the new workflow has On Hold status instead of pending, will that ticket get the new status or will it remain unchanged?

Hello @Raymond Correa 

The process of applying the new workflow will check the existing issues to see if the statuses they are currently assigned exist in the new workflow. If they do not you will be required to select a new status for them from those that do exist in the new workflow.
