When using auto approve approvers still get email

daniel_hedberg

So i have setup a workflow with auto approval that if the cost is lower than 1000 it should be autoapproved. The trouble is that if a user still selects an approver the approver still gets sent an email that they have an issue to approve? How can i solve this?

If you are requiring an issue to move to Approval step, the notification email is sent first and then the Automation kicks in.

If you are able to only send for approval after it is *over* the threshold (effectively skipping approval/auto-approval) then you can avoid the notification going to an approver.

It's a difficult one to give the solution for, but the options are basically as follows:

Scenerio 1:

Insert Automation to Triage the ticket and send it for approval if
approval is required

In this case, you're then only notifying approvers and requesting approval when it is actually required, and giving them peace when the threshold is not met.

Scenario 2:

Leave things as they are, shift the mindset of approvers to understand
that they are being looped in whether their participation is
required or not
