We have a NUMBER field that will not accept decimal input on the Form view?!?

Jon Pratt April 2, 2020

I am puzzled by Jira not allowing me to enter a number with decimal place 1.5 for example on the form presented on the Service Desk Portal.

This makes no sense as the same field on the main form inside the Jira Servce Desk project allows for 1.5 to be entered without issue.

Hello Jon,

Thank you for reaching out to Atlassian Community!

Testing using the details you provided, I wasn't able to replicate the issue. I created a new Number field and added it to the project. When creating a ticket, I was able to add 1.5 and the ticket was created with no issues.

I also tested it on a next-gen project and it works.

Per the screenshots, you are using a classic project, so I would like to know if there are any post functions or validators or anything else. I see that there are some add-ons on your site like Extension for JSD, Scriptrunner, so maybe there is something else preventing the field to work correctly.

The basic configuration, without using any add-on or validators on the workflow, allows adding 1.5 as a value in the field.

Regards,
Angélica

hi

There are some custom workflows and stuff in the Jira. But the person that built it left us and didnt document it very well. I'll have a look into the things that might be effecting this (no standard stuff)

Thanks for looking for me!

Hi Angelica

Thank you! You made me think about the Add-ins - there was one called Dynamic forms - and for the effected field it had a validator - must be interger. But even if 12.5 is a integer , for some reason it wasn't happy.

So I removed the problematic validator (Must be integer) and its ok. As long as the users do not try to type words into that field it will be fine :)

Thanks again for your kind help and inspiration on where I can find the issue!

Regards

Jon
