We have a project within our jira instance in which permissions have been set so that only the comment author is allowed to edit their comments.
This has some drawbacks for re-useability in that someone who is not the comment author but who wishes to paste the source of an existing comment into their own comment, thereby preserving any formatting, can't, we are told by our jira admins, see the source which they could see in an edit dialog.
Clearly, there are all manner of sub-optimal workarounds for this, but I'd have thought that some way to view the source that didn't require "edit" privileges would have been a core part of any markup-based application.
Any suggestions/knowledge that we can point our jira admins to?
