Use base URL for Service Desk Portal

Dears,

we have setup a service desk: solve.company.com .

  • An enduser will see the portal
  • An agent will be redirected to the agent view

now the customer is groing and they are also using JIRA Software and people who are end users for JSD are now agents for software projects.

  • altough they are endusers for JSD, they will see the agent view

==> This is understandable behavior.

What we would like to do:

  • solve.company.com ->point to portal
  • solve.company.com/projects -> point to agent view

I already played around with URL rewrite, (https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/how-to-customize-customer-portal-url-in-jira-service-desk-server-847755218.html) but it was working to good :-D. my agent view was unreachable.

Hi Matthew!

As I understand it, your assumption that "although they are endusers for JSD, they will see the agent view" is incorrect.

If they do not have Agent permissions in that Jira Service Desk project in Jira, they will not see the Agent view. Go into the permissions, and make sure that it is restricted. Out-of-the-box Jira software projects do not have an Agent role.

I think it will be simpler for you to solve the problem by correctly managing the permissions to the various projects you have in Jira.

Hope this helps!

Carolyn
