I tried to create a Jira Service Desk project type (with an agent license). I tried creating a new project (next-gen), I am unable to select Service Desk type project.
I have tried some online community solution, including creating a Classic Project and to change the template after creation with the help of our Jira Admin.
The Jira Admin was unable to do so as well because only Software Type projects are available. Any suggestions to solve this would be much appreciated.
Do you have JSD installed? It is a separate application. Have the admin check here - Jira settings > Products
Hi Jack,
Thank you for your suggestion. I have contacted my JIRA admin and she attached the following screeenshot. JSR seems to be already installed. Any other reasons why it still wont work?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Additional Info:
I am able to see JIRA Service Desk as part of "Switch App"
and upon clicking JSR, it will direct me to Project tab, with `Service Desk` as filter.
Would appreciate any further advice.

My next guess would be that the admin has not set it up to allow others (you) to create such projects. It is not uncommon to only allow NG project creation. Check to see if the system admin can create JSD projects.
