Unable to do almost anything in Service Desk despite being Project Lead, Admin, Agent, & Viewer.

I only have the same permissions as "Viewer".

This means I can not (including but not limited to)  assign issues to people, or reply to the customer.

I can however still do things such as internal comments and deleting the entire service desk project.

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Checking the details of the site, I was able to confirm that you are not member of the group jira-servicedesk-users. 

With that said, you will not be considered as an agent, that's why you can't add public comments, for example.  

Please, talk to your site administrator for them to add you to this group, so you can work on Service Desk tickets.
