Hi,

i had a testinstallation in january and after a larger project i decided to buy a service-desk license. So i started the VM & Jira, opened a browser and it said the test is over, buy a new license. I bought it and came back to the Tab with my license-key. Everything seemed easy until the error "Wrong Adminuser or Password" appeared.... i only had one user and the data in the autofill were right. After trying nearly everything and even checking the username in my Database ( its on a MySQL DB ), i uninstalled the service-desk, emptied the Database and performed a reinstall.  Everything went as expected, Database ( again MySQL ) was connected successfully an the Script told me to visit my site. No Username or password was asked and even the database user section was empty. The Site wanted to know if it's prod. or dev. I clicked prod and found myself at the same page as before, asking me for a license and a user + password. How can this be ? The database is empty, no user is created and as far as i can read, there is no "default" user or something.

Do you have any idea how i can activate my license ? It's only a testserver, so a clean reset is no problem, but i guess/hope that there is a simple solution.

Thanks in advance

Kind Regards

Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Sorry to hear that you are having this problem with Jira.   I would not have expected that you would need to uninstall service desk in order to apply a new license, but since you have appeared to start over with Jira, that license key tends to need to be applied in the setup wizard.  If this fails, we would want to take a closer look at either your

$JIRAHOME/log/atlassian-jira.log file

OR

$JIRAINSTALL/logs/catalina.out

from this time.   These logs can tell us a lot about your environment to better understand if the Jira application is having some problem with connecting to the database, which it would have to do to store that license key as well as setup Jira itself.
