Time stamp format in history, comments etc. minutes not fine enough for debugging

Hello, question about time formatting or perhaps a suggestion for the developers.

In the history log of an issue the time are displayed like: March 18, 2026 at 1:31 PM, but sometimes an automation rule is triggered by a comment the same minute, so we do not know what came first. The format in the log of an automation rule, there they display seconds.

It is mostly between comments <-> history log, because the order of things in both tabs themself show the order between them (correct?).

Is there a way to also display seconds? March 18, 2026 at 1:31:19 PM for example? It makes it way easier to debug, see order of actions etc. Perhaps a nice to have. :)

Have a nice day, Jesse

Hi @J B

This is not an option, there is also no feature request for this listed or anything on the roadmap for this.

I'm not aware on any apps on the marketplace, but there might be, you could check.

Hello @J B

as far as I know, there is no native setting in Jira Cloud to fully control that timestamp display in history/comments the way you describe.

For recent entries, Jira shows those timestamps in relative form first, and Atlassian’s current behavior is that you can click the timestamp to switch between relative and absolute format for items from the last 7 days. Older entries are shown in absolute format automatically.
