Tickets / organization history - jira service desk

Najat Abu Hamad September 3, 2023

Hello dears,

I'm using the free plan service desk, Can I move an organization from service desk project A to service desk project b?

Also, if I delete an organization/ or user in the organization from the service desk board, i will lose the history of the closed tickets?

if yes, please advise how can I remove the user /organization without deleting the ticket history.

one last thing, if there is any tutorial to deal with the service desk board, please share it with me.

Thanks in advance.

@Najat Abu Hamad , Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

About your questions:

1: Yes, you can move an entire organization between your projects. You just need to add in the new project your organization already created in another project.

2: If you delete the organization of a project the users who created the tickets will not lose the access for your tickets, but the tickets shared with the organization will be not shared anymore.

You can see more details following these links:

Documentation Online about Organizations in JSM: Group customers into organizations | Jira Service Management Cloud | Atlassian Support

Online courses from Atlassian University (exist paid and free courses): Atlassian University - Jira Service Management Courses

Hope this helps.

But once i delete customer in an organization, deleted the organization, or moved it from a project to another, I will lose their history on the old project , correct?

is there any way to save or archive the ticket history before deleting it?

@Najat Abu Hamad

If you delete a customer of an organization, unless you delete the entire project the customer will be able to see issues that he created.

As reporter of the issues, the customers always can see your issues, even you removing him of your organization.

But if you want to delete the project and remove the customers of your organizations, I recommend you export your all issues for a .csv file to use as backup when necessary.

But as a service desk team member, is there any place to view the ticket history for a deleted customer/organization?

please note that in my Q.s the reporter is the customer..

If you delete the Organization you lose the association between the organization and the

If you delete the Organization the tickets will lose the Organization reference and sharing, so it will not be possible to identify them by the organization.

About Customers/Reporters, you will always be able to identify these tickets in the future by giving a JQL in Jira, searching for: reporter = user_email
