I have a number of lists with cards related to different projects. Each list is a month of the year. I have set up a custom field with event date. I want to set up an automation where each day, every list is sorted by this custom field but the only way I have found to do it is to set up a separate automation for every list. Is there a way to set up a single automation that will sort all the lists on that board?

Hi Tanya - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

I am a little confused as to how you are using automation to sort issues in a list/on a board.

However, if you modify the filter used by your board to use ORDER BY custom field name that should do the trick.

Hi John,

To give context - each list is a month of the year and each card on that list is a different event. I know I can set an automation to sort a list by a custom field but I will need to set up 12 different automations (one for each month). I just wanted to know if there was a way around this where I could have just one automation set up that will sort all my lists by custom field rather than setting up a new automation for each list.

Well once again automation doesn’t sort anything. There is an event that happens and automation responds by performing an action. Sorting isn’t one of those actions.

Can you provide specific step by step actions that you are taking and what you expect to happen?
