Some fields are missing when exporting to excel

When exporting records to Excel, some fields appear as null. What could be causing this, and how can I resolve it?

Record I want to export.

I chose this export option because it provides a better output compared to the other available export methods:

the excel result came out this:

Hi @Mar Angelo L_ Tareno

I believe those missing fields are custom fields, add them to your issue navigator columns first, then export again. Only visible columns are included in the Excel export.

Go to your issue search (Filters → Advanced or Basic).

Click Columns and add the custom fields you need.

Export again.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Christos Markoulatos

I tried your suggestion, but the issue persists. The field records are still missing.

Is there an alternative method? When I try a different export option, the missing records appear, but the format is too complicated and differs from the table view in Jira.

@Mar Angelo L_ Tareno try the “All fields” export (CSV) is the only way to get everything, but it’s less user-friendly. Also u can get the through the API but it is more complicated and may not suit your use case. But let me know if u want to go that routε.

Hi @Mar Angelo L_ Tareno

just to add to @Christos Markoulatos great answer:

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, there's a number of apps available that offer advanced exporting capabilities. The exact feature set depends on the app, but they should all be able to export your various work item fields.

E.g., this would work as expected in the app that my team and I are working on: JXL for Jira

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your work items (issues) that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your work item fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel, Google Sheets, Smartsheet, or Airtable. It also comes with a long list of advanced features, including the ability to export your data to Excel in just two clicks:

I should also add that JXL can do much more than the above: From support for configurable issue hierarchies, to issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting. All these features are respected in the Excel export, too.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
