Smart value {{issue.comments.last.body}} how to format it so URLs in the comments work in an email

We're using the smart value {{issue.comments.last.body}} to show the last comment in the body of an email. If the comment includes links, they show with the Jira link formatting which includes brackets & not something that email programs recognize as a link. Is there a way to replace those Jira formatted links with html formatted links?
