I would like to know how/if we can link slack channels to a specific Jira issue within a project.  Developers like using Slack to communicate with operations and support colleagues.  We would like to continue using that communication method but log all communication into that specific Jira issue.  Is this possible?  If so, how?  (The only thing I'm able to do today is receive updates in Slack when specific events occur.)

Hi Brian, welcome to the Community!

Keeping your issues in sync with discussion in Slack is a reasonable goal! We've got an open feature request for Jira Cloud for Slack integration to provide dedicated channels per issue, created from Jira. This feature is typically envisioned by having a "create slack channel" button on an issue in Jira, and clicking the button would create a Slack channel with the issue key as the name (e.g. #HOT-123).

As it is now, you can use the official Jira Cloud for Slack integration to attach individual Slack messages to Jira issues. With the app enabled in Slack, you'll have an "Add to issue" option available in the action menu for messages (click on the three dots at the end to activate the menu):
