Setting a value for "Request Type" in Automation for Jira

Hello,

In on of our service projects, we have an automation rule to create an issue based on certain criteria. When we create the issue, we'd also like to set the issue's "Request type," and we've tried this unsuccessfully using Advanced field editing with JSON. Has anyone had success with this?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Hi @Paul Wiggers Thanks for the feedback. I was not able to find the option to "Edit Request Type" from within Automation. What I saw was that "Request Type" is not a field that can be selected to be edited. We are using Server/Data Center, perhaps the limitation. When we try, we get this message:

However, I discovered an option within Jira Automation called "Create Service Management request" and this allows us to accomplish the goal.

Hello @Durell Demartini

Automations have an action called "Edit Request Type" which, as the name suggests, you can use to edit the request type.

Perhaps that will provide the functionality you are looking for
