Set approval for either one of 2 fields (single user and group picker)

Hi, 

we use 2 approval fields (one is a single-user picker and one is a group picker custom field).
Is it possible to make JSM consider both fields for triggering the approval step (=demanding approval from either one of the fields) in the same workflow status? 

Workaround would probably be dedicated approval statues for each approval type, but I want to avoid that.

This will need to be 2 statuses, as on configuring an approval step in the workflow, you can only provide on field.

You can use OR logic in workflow conditions on transition. Did you check this?

Thanks, but this is good for controlling the transition afterwards. But for the approval step itself that is set on the status before?
I need the approver function sending a approval request message and the button (approved / denied) in the ticket before that.
