Set a default approver for Change Request

Tom Williams April 1, 2021

I want to set a default approver for Change Requests in a project.

I've been able to set a default for assigning a tech but not an approver.

What is the easiest way to do that?

Hi @Tom Williams,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

You have a couple of options to do this. One is to add the approvers field to the request form and hide it and set a default value. This works if you want all your change requests to have the same approver.

Another option would be to use Services (if you are using the ITSM template for the project). In the workflow for approvals there is an option to include change managers for the service.

A third option would be to use Automation to set the approver based on another field on the request.

Thank you Mikael.  I would need some instructions for option one.  I can't locate where to edit the request form.  I did however make the Approver filed mandatory and with only one person to select as approver, this does meet my immediate need.
