Service Desk looks different on cloud vs server

Hi, my friend is currently using the cloud version of Jira and I noticed his service desk looks completely different and 100% better.. I already updated to the new redesign but his still looks different like the icons. If anyone could help me understand this.

Despite both being called Jira and having a common ancestor, Jira Server and Jira Cloud are now very different products, with different layouts and look-and-feel.

Given that they are different, is thee something else you need to understand?
