It seems like the "Gallery" macro does function properly when rendering inside a Service Desk KB portal. The thumbnail is displayed, but you cannot click to show an image.
This functions correctly inside the Confluence space.
Is this a known issue?
Hello Brent,
Thank you for getting in touch with Atlassian Community!
I've tested on my local environment and I faced the same issue on different browsers, but this is expected since these images are on Confluence. Customers would only be able to open these images if they could access directly in Confluence, otherwise, they can only see the thumbnails in the customer portal.
Based on your question, I've created a feature request:

Thanks @Angélica Luz. The whole premise of of having the service desk being backed by a Confluence space is to allow specifically for these interactions. Otherwise, we now have to write articles for our customers in Confluence and double-check the functionality exists in the customer portal.
I believe this is an actual bug in the Gallery macro when the portal loads in the corresponding confluence page.

Hi Brent,
I've just confirmed that Jira never had this functionality, so this is not a bug, but an expected that we can't click on images when it comes from an article.
Regards,
Angélica
