Searching Components

Daniel Fenech
September 4, 2018

I've recently created an abundant list of components to a project, and since it's quite a long one, I want agents and customers to be able to easily search components.

The problem is, that the search doesn't look for words within the component, but you have to start typing exactly how it is written.

Example of component name: Software:Skype

In order to find it, you can't simply type "Skype" and select all components that include the term, but you rather have to type "Software:Sk..." then it will show up. Otherwise, you have to scroll down through the list and try to remember if there actually is a component or not.

Would anyone know if this can be changed?

JQL by default does not support wildcard for search component. I am afraid you have to use plugins to do it. Please refer to https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Core-questions/How-to-use-wildcards-with-components-in-my-JQL/qaq-p/104908
