Restrict Access to Knowledge Base to users coming from APP

We want to create two levels of access to the JSM Knowledge Base. 

1. Internal users who have Atlassian credentials
2. External users who navigate to the Knowledge Base via a link in our app. 

I can set up #1 but am wondering if and how #2 is possible.
