We are creating multiple service request to different SDM project from one customer portal. When using the create service request automation the Reporter in the newly created project is Automation for Jira. We have already added the And: Edit issue fields set to Copy Reporter from Current issue to try and set the Reporter from the original customer portal form. The result is still the same Reporter is Automation for Jira. We would like the newly created issue to have the same reporter as the original issue.
What is the correct setup to display the original reporter in any newly created issues on the other projects?

this is because the action "Edit issue fields : Reporter" does not apply to the issue you create at the beginning : it applies on the issue that triggers your rule.
You will need to set this field in the "Create Request" block :

Under 'Rule Details', change the 'Actor' from Automation to 'User who triggered the event'
This should resolve your issue.
