Receiving an error when changing Customer Portal Banner

When uploading a banner image for the customer portal, i receive an error that says "Error uploading banner image." the banner is sized according to the specification "1680x360" and its about 659KB in size. What could this be? i can change the banner to an image without those constrains and it works fine without any issues

The banner size recommended by the Atlassian is 1680x360. Hope the size which you are uploading is more than that.
