Propagate renamed Epic to tasks that link to it

I have a classic project where I renamed one of my epics.   However, in my backlog, and on other pages, the tasks within that epic still show as linked to the old epic name.  In fact, when I add an epic link on the Backlog page to a new task, the old epic name still shows as one of the choices.  How can I fully propagate the new epic name?

I think I have just solved my own issue.  I had only changed the name on the epic web page.  On that page, I changed the Epic Name.  Then the name change was propagated into all issues in my backlog. 

This seems like a bug.  Why should the title on the epic web page ever be different from the Epic Name?
