Hey @Fahad Siddiqui

Anonymous reporter usually means one of:

  • You have not entered a reporter (or rather, deliberately removed it, as it will set it to the current user by default)
  • You have deleted the user that was the reporter
  • That an issue was created via an email that came from an email address that is not associated with any of your Jira users
  • There is a problem with Jira reading your user directory

The reporter field not being displayed on the ticket can be caused by one of the following:

  • The reporter field is hidden in the field configuration
  • The reporter field is not on the view screen for the issue you are viewing

When you are viewing an issue there is an admin dropdown if you are a project or jira admin. You can select this and click where is my field. This will let you select a field and it will tell you why its not being displayed.

Dear,

thanks for explaining so perfectly,

Anonymous reporter usually means one of:

  • You have not entered a reporter (or rather, deliberately removed it, as it will set it to the current user by default)
  • You have deleted the user that was the reporter
  • That an issue was created via an email that came from an email address that is not associated with any of your Jira users
  • There is a problem with Jira reading your user directory

How can i check this please clarify.

i am able to see the reporter filed now but, i am the admin and still under reporter the name is showing Anonymous.

and when i cross check the where is my filed option i got the below message.

"The 'Reporter' field should be present on the form you are viewing"

  1. To see how the issue was created, there is a channel section in the bottom right of the screen. This will tell you if it came from the portal or email.
  2. In the history tab, it may show who created the issue. I don't know if it will show once a user is deleted but its a worth a check.
  3. I would make a couple test tickets to see if this is a recurring issue or if this is isolated. That may help you discover the error.
